President’s Day

Presidents Day is on Monday, february 20. It is always celebrated on the third Monday of February, and it is in honor to George Washington, who was the first president of the United States. To add on, it is also a day to honor other presidents, not just him. The holiday was first celebrated on February 22, but later was changed to the third monday of february by the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. It was around the 1980s when Presidents day began to make a public appearance. One way to show honor is with a Purple Heart, which is a military decoration created by George Washington for soldiers who have been killed. Another way that you can show honor is if the current president gives you a White house tour. To add on, you can remember all of the presidents names. You can also have a little fun and create a monument of a president, made of clay to show respect. Another thing that you can do read more about the history of presidents. One way that i can show honor is do more research about this day, to learn a lot more about the president's. That way i will be more informed, and i will know a lot more about the history. I think that it is very important if you educate yourself, so this would be a good thing to do. Another thing that i can do to honor and show respect on President’s day is maybe do crafts, because that would be something easy to do.
