Optometry Technician or Assistant

Duties and responsibilities:
They work with optometrist to help assist with eye treatment and examination. It is their job to work with patients, to see if their eyesight is correct, and many more things that have to do with the eye. They must record the patient’s medical history, and assist with test to make sure that the diagnosis are accurate. They work in places such as a optometrist’ office, eye care clinics, and treatment facilities. It is their responsibility to prepare exam schedules, repair or assist eyeglasses, make sure that they clean ocular equipment, and other things. It is their responsibility to make sure that the patient knows how to take proper care of their eyeglasses. They must be patient, be able to work with a team, have communication skills, and have office application skills. As you can see, optometry technicians are very important, because they are there to help assist their patients.

Salary: $30,590 per year.

Education: Must have a high school diploma, and training programs. They must have an associates degree.

Demand or need for this profession: Growing 23% from 2014-2024.


Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?
I would not like to be one, because it is something that does not interest me, although it is a great medical career. I would not enjoy to do this.
